Tidbits.

*You can now find Tag(g)lines at www.melissatagg.com. Yes, it took just about every speck of technology-inclined brainpower in me (which, uh, isn’t much) to go through the process of buying a domain name and pointing it to this blog, but I did it. Thank you, Blogger, for posting step-by-step instructions online. And thank you, Uncle Ben, for making it seem do-able!
*I am in serious, serious need of a farmer. (And no, I do not mean ‘to marry.’ Although, should I meet a real-life version of the fictional farmer in my WIP – who, flaws and all, is such a swell guy – and should he say, “Melissa, I am totally cool with you writing full-time even if it doesn’t make any money at the outset,” I will promptly propose.) No, I need a farmer to help me with the farming scenes in my book. I’ve read Farm Journal online, and Google is probably getting tired of my farm searches, but I’m to the point where I need the real deal. So, if by some great miracle of Internet small-world-ness, you are a farmer who wouldn’t mind spending some time educating a full-of-questions writer, email me! (Okay, fine, I promise not to propose.)
*So, I told my cool sister Nicole that I’d write a blog about her sometime. I’m not sure this counts, since I’ve not centered the entire blog on her, but it’s a start…This is why Nicole is so great (well, one of the reasons): On Memorial Day, she spent a good, oh, half an hour or more taking photos of her big sister (that would be me). I needed a headshot to send in for a contest thing (yay for finaling in the Frasier!) Unfortunately for Nicole’s budding skills as a photographer, her subject matter wasn’t so photo-worthy. Especially not on that particular day when a splotchy sunburn added a little extra color to the photo…but she prevailed.
Thank you, Nicole! Thank you, too, for fixing my bangs when they kept falling into my face…for putting up with my unsuccessful efforts to cover up my sunburn…for enduring my fussy-ness when I felt like my smiles looked goofy. (And, um, could you not show those silly photos we took – you know the ones I mean – to anyone?!)

*New awesome author alert! So, this weekend I had every intention of cleaning…doing laundry…grocery shopping…all the stuff I’ve meant to do for, hmm, about three weeks now, but haven’t. None of it happened (though, I did write 4,800 words on Saturday – woohoo!). Instead of playing Miss Domestic, I let myself get absolutely sucked into a book by Deeanne Gist. Mostly I’ve been sticking to contemporary fiction lately since that’s what I’m writing, but I’m glad I took the detour. Loved it. Took place in Seattle in the 1800s. Featured a lumberjack. And made me really, really want to watch “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” Called A Bride in the Bargain and I highly recommend it.

    1. Haha…you guess?

Don’t worry, someday I’ll write an entire blog all about you. Just be warned…I might tell the story of the time you got stuck in your sleeping bag…hehehehe…

    2. If you do, then when you are famous I will post the funny pictures of you that I took for your head shot all over the internet…and I will not be your personal assistant either….haha

    3. Hey Melissa,

My son is a farmer and would probably talk to you. But he won’t have much time until November when the organic farm where he works is to bed for the winter. Talk to you about it more at group tonight.
