Friday headlines.

Well, I switched things up a bit on the blog this week and went with a devo-ish post on Wednesday. So in keeping with my rebellious schedule fiddling, today instead of doing a regular Friday post I’m going to play newsgirl and offer up a few headlines…

Coolest Giveaway Ever

Earlier this week, Bethany House in conjunction with Jones House Creative, announced a super sweet giveaway. It features five of us BHP authors, tons of prizes and lots of ways to enter. It’s called the Fall Into Love Giveaway
There’s a specific giveaway for each author (the prizes in mine include a $50 Lowe’s gift card, a 135-piece tool set, a one-year subscription to Handyman magazine, my book and more) plus one ultimate giveaway including a Kindle Fire, hammock and lots more.

See what I mean? Awesome.

Get all the details here.

(Sidenote: Jones House is also creating my new website and I got a sneak peek earlier this week. It’s so cool, guys!!)

Hanging Out at Seriously Write

Today I’ve got a guest post over at Seriously Write. This is a great site run by some great writers. I wrote this post specifically for people who don’t like to get their hopes up. Just so you know, I’ve got my hopes up that you’ll stop by!

Mega Sports News: Tim Tebow is still a Patriot and Karl Malone catches a fish

I know, I know, you had no idea this blog was all ESPN-y. 🙂

I really need Tim Tebow to keep playing football for selfish reasons. I’m on a writing-related quest to learn football this upcoming NFL season and he and his great facial hair are the one thing holding my interest at the moment. Apparently he survived the first round of roster cuts recently. Now he has to survive tomorrow’s final cut to determine the team’s 53-member roster.

(See what I did there? Subtly inserted that I actually know a team can have up to 53 people on its roster?)

And Karl Malone aka basketball player I LOVED in high school is now mentoring current Utah Jazz players. Turns out he took one of them fishing. And they caught a fish. Isn’t that just delightful news for a Friday? Aren’t you glad you stopped by here?

Finally, coming up Monday: How to Stealthily Stalk Your Favorite Author at ACFW

Because obviously I believe in writing blog posts that are vitally important, life-changing and information-filled.

    1. I AM happy I stopped by here today! Vital information, for sure. 🙂 Headline in my world? Our local Pizza Hut closed their doors after thirty years of business…and now the question in everyone’s mind is what restaurant will replace it?!?!

      1. Oh yes, very vital info. Always trying to improve the world through important blog posts.

OH NO, the Pizza Hut closed? Hey, do you guys have Casey’s up in Minnesota? They have the best pizza ever. Ever. Except for maybe Lou Malnati’s in Chicago.

      1. HA ummm you really don’t want my “expert” help. Yes, I wrote a book about a homebuilder…but I’m not to be trusted with power tools. Although, technically I did once help build a house in Mexico. So, well…

    2. Great giveaway! I could really do for a hammock – for the few times I’m actually at home and not in my bed! And on that Tim Tebow note: several of our pastors were in my office talking yesterday about sports figures who were in trouble, and one (A Florida fan) said, “All I know is, Tim Tebow was not involved in any of it. He was probably leading a prayer meeting somewhere.” HA!

Headline: Local mother sets reminders on her phone, ignores them. Done that way too much this week!

      1. I love hammocks. Earlier this year, I swung my little nephew Ollie in a hammock…it was sooo cute to see him all wide-eyed.

HA, and Tebow probably was praying somewhere. Or lifting weights.

And I do the exact same thing with my phone. 🙂

    3. I see I can’t afford to miss a single one of your posts. I still say you could be a stand-up (evangelist) comedian in your spare time–though I’m glad it’s tucked into your books. Good contest, bright future. GLAD you’re routing for Tebow. It’s the quality of his fans, maybe not always the numbers. I guess the majority of people are just not discerning. Have a great weekend!

    4. I recent headline in my world is…

I met JoAnn Durgin in person.

She’s so sweet and I was thrilled to include (insist upon, really) meeting her in my family’s vacation plans earlier in August.

      Blessings,
      Andrea
