Giveaway Day! And a little Tebow talk.

Okay, I am a wee bit short on time this week. Enough that I’ve not been able to write an actual post-with-a-point for today.

But never fear, we’ve got something else fun planned. And by we I mean, well, just me.

It’s a giveaway day!

I’ve got a pile of books that have been sent to me from publishers as a perk of influencing, and I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to give them away. Plus, super sweet agency-mate Bethany Jett said she so appreciated all the kind comments after her guest post on Wednesday that she’d like to give away a copy of her recently released The Cinderella Rule.

So here’s what you need to do if you like the sound of a freebie: Enter the drawing by leaving a comment below on the very important subject of…

Tim Tebow becoming a Patriot!

A New England Patriot to be exact. I’m going assume, being the nice guy he looks like he is, that he was already a patriot in the general American citizen sense.

But yes, how do you feel about this? Do you hate the Patriots like everybody in the world seems to? Do you think learning under Tom Brady will be a good thing for him? Will the Patriots treat him better than the Jets? Did you not even realize this was headline news this week? Could you not care less?

(If the latter is the case, don’t worry. Just leave a comment about, well, pretty much anything and you’re entered. Things are flexible around here.)

Leave your comment by next Tuesday the 18th…5 p.m.-ish…and I will use a random number generator to determine five winners, one for each book:

When Sparrows Fall by Meg Moseley
Be Still My Soul by Joanne Bischof (Christy Award nominee!)
My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade (RITA Award nominee!)
The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck (RITA Award nominee!)
The Cinderella Rule by Bethany Jett
Comment away!

p.s. I’ve got a new Made to Last page on the site. There you’ll find endorsements, a super cute book trailer and pre-order info. Woohoo!

    1. I know nothing about football. I do know who Tim Tebow is though, I wish people would be nice to him 🙂 I also know who Tom Brady is because he is married to Gisele. That is why. The only reason. You are amazed by my knowledge now I am sure 🙂

    2. The Patriots have to be better than New York! I’m just worried now that he’s a Patriot, the IRS will audit his taxes. 🙂 Off to check you new page…and to make sure I’ve already ordered your book!

    3. Pat — you crack me up.
MTagg — you already know football is not my thing but even I heard that Tebow was going to be with the Patriots. I pray he succeeds where he’s been planted.

Love your post today! Randomness and fun are all good things.

    4. Well, the Patriots are Manny’s favorite team- and I guess it is much better than someone like Dallas. Sitting behind a really successful quarterback has worked fabulously for Aaron Rodgers who is now one of the most successful QBs in the game so that’s not all bad. However, what is his poor dog’s name going to be now? Bronco, Bronx, Patriot?!?!

      1. Oh my, Manny may be the first person I’ve ever met who likes the Patriots. As for Tebow’s dog, I say, let the dog keep his name. We don’t want him getting confused…although, Boston starts with B…so maybe he can work with that somehow.

      1. Well…at least this experience with internal conflict may help with writing, right? Because great stories are all about inner conflict, as well as outer conflict…so there’s totally an upside.

    5. I’m from Canada… Football is not my thing, I’m more of a hockey fan 🙂 however my husband has family in the states and they are Patriots fans and there so are we lol we have sweatshirts, hats ect of the Patriots! 🙂 I hadn’t heard the news though:) Oh and I love the trailer for the new book 🙂

      1. Thanks for checking out the trailer! It’s okay that football’s not your thing…it was never mine either but then I got this idea for a book… 🙂 As for hockey, I grew up watching The Mighty Ducks movies, so I think that makes me a fan.

      1. OF COURSE I’m a fan. I mean, it helps that I didn’t have much in the way of team loyalty to begin with, so following Tebow works for me. Although, around here, I try to intermittently be a Packers fan and a Vikings fan depending on who I’m around. 🙂

    6. So at the church where I work, we have one Boston-native pastor who is a diehard Pats fan. And we have another pastor who has been a Tebow fan since he played college football (University of Florida fan). It’s so odd to think that both of these guys will be rooting for the same team next year!

    7. Haha! You are such a huge Tim Tebow fan. Fun! I didn’t know he switched teams, so this is news to me. I’m a Cowboys and Texans fan – lovin’ the home teams!

    8. Sorry, but I’m in the “could not care less” crowd. All kinds of sports bore me and I pay practically no attention to them! So instead I’m going to comment on how excited I am to read your book! It sounds so so good!

      1. Ooh, no sports at all? Well, that’s cool…it gives you time to be interested in other things! And thanks for the excitement for MTL. I’m pretty excited myself. 🙂

    9. I don’t know much about the Patriots but I’m glad they gave Tim Tebow a chance. I hope he does well.
Thanks for giving away these great books. My book club is reading and discussing The Wedding Dress in July so it would be especially fun to win a copy of that book.
I’m looking forward to your book as well.

    10. My family and I are diehard Packers fans, but also Tim Tebow fans. My husband and I were discussing this whole issue at lunch just yesterday, and we were talking about God’s plan for Tebow with the Patriots and how God can use him to influence the other team members. Years ago after winning one of the Super Bowl games, Tom Brady mentioned in an interview that he should feel like he had everything, but he didn’t…something was still missing. Now, granted this is before he was married, etc., but wouldn’t it be amazing if God plans to use Tim to help Tom realize just exactly what, or more “who” he is missing? I think it would be just like our awesome God to use a young Tim Tebow to lead a veteran Tom Brady to Christ.

    11. The only football that I watch is the Super Bowl game. I’m clueless about the Patriots, though I did root for them when they were in the Super Bowl two years ago. I know that God has a plan for Tim and His plans are good–no matter what happens.

    12. I’ve been a huge Tebow fan since he played for Florida. He’s a great role model and for that reason alone he is worth following and encouraging our kids to look up too. Hopefully he can be trained under Brady and will get treated better with the Patriots than he was with the Jets. Thanks for the great giveaway, Melissa.

    13. I know there are mixed feelings about Tim Tebow becoming a Patriot, but I’m thrilled for him. I hope the coaches will believe in him and help him grow as a player. I trust that God will use his witness and testimony and team-building skills to draw others to Him. I’m just thrilled he has a chance to play again. I thought the Jets did him wrong. Just sayin’. 🙂
I definitely want in on this giveaway. 🙂

    14. I know who Tim Tebow is and why he is famous. I’m assuming that Tom Brady is the coach for the Patriots. That’s it. All my Tebow knowledge has been exhausted. But I hope I win a book. Love to win them, love to read them, love to review them!

    15. I’m not really a football fan, and I’m definitely not a Patriots fan. But, from what I’ve heard, it sounds like learning under Tom Brady should be really good for Tebow. It should be a better situation for him than NY was at least!

    16. I left my comments on Goodreads then found everybody else commenting here. So here’s my answer…

I care. I hate how he was treated by the Jets, and I hope he gets a break this time. He’s such a good guy.

I often told my youngest son the tennis court is his mission field. And I think Tim Tebow’s mission field is now the NFL. And maybe God keeps moving him around to spread the gospel in such an earnest way that others can’t reach some of the players.

God will use Tim Tebow whereever he goes.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to voice my thoughts on this.

By the way, I’m a big UGA football fan, but still liked him when he played for Florida. Even when he’s beating you, you’ve got to respect his talent.

      1. Thanks for stopping by, Jackie. And I agree…he is a good guy. Of course, my opinion is solely based on reading his book and hearsay. Haha! But if he wasn’t a good guy, with how he was treated last season, I think we would’ve seen that not-good side. 🙂 So, yeah…good guy it is.

    17. I hope that where ever he is he will continue to glorify God and have a happy heart. Blessing on you this season Tim!

      1. Yes, England! Let’s go back sometime. Preferably on a Thursday night so we can get that curry deal at Weatherspoons. 🙂 And then you can take off in a bus without me. And and and we can go back to York and look in that church window again to see those people pulling on those bell chords and then almost accidentally lead a group of Chinese tourists into the church! So many memories flying at me all at once! 🙂
