Happy nine-month birthday to the cutest nephew ever!

Sometimes I blog about writing. Sometimes I blog about faith. Sometimes I blog about seriously important things like Old Spice commercials and Diet Coke with Lime.

But tonight’s blog topic, oh, it’s my favorite! I headed down to Wichita this weekend with my mom and grandparents to see adorable Ollie and his awesome parents. Photos below…(Have I looked at them a few dozen times already? Yes, yes I have…)

Auntie Melissa’s favorite moment!

You’ve heard of Sleeping Beauty? This is Sleeping Cutie!

Ollie: These people keep sticking cameras in my face! Seems they like it when I smile…

Checking out “sister” Daisy…

Adorable, yes?! (How’s that for an understatement?)

Ollie: Aunt Melissa loves reading to me. I think she wants me to be a bookworm like her. Melissa: I just love that my nephew loves me even when my hair’s a mess and I look like I need sleep. Or, wait, maybe that’s just the book he likes…

Sleeping with Mommy!

Check out the onesie!
I’m a big boy in my bumbo seat!

Ollie: Yes, it’s true. I did survive a camera craze this weekend!

So big!

Ollie: Tummy time. It’s harder for me than some babies ’cause of my trach. Silly Aunt Melissa got tears in her eyes every time she watched me work on holding my head up…

Melissa: I wonder if Amy and Chip would notice if I moved in? Ollie: Mmm, frozen teething ring.

Update: Ollie has one more surgery coming up, probably in June. Later he will be weaned off his vent and eventually the trach, too. Thanks, everyone, for all your prayers these past nine months!

  1. Oh . . . tears in my eyes too. I love this little boy. I can’t wait to meet him one day. Hey! How about he comes to one of the MBT retreats? Or the MBT Pizza Party??!!

  2. Auntie Melissa, he’s so beautiful. Very easy to see why you love every minute of being with him. Thank you, God, for your daily miracles with Ollie. Bless his family and lift him up to reflect your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  3. So often we pray and never hear of the result. How wonderful to see how God has answered prayers in such an amazing way. What a wonderful, precious little boy! Thanks for sharing his progress.

  4. Thank you, ladies! Your prayers have meant so much to me, and I’m sure Amy and Chip, too. Ollie’s just the cutest thing ever, isn’t he? I ooze into a puddle of gushing and cooing whenever I talk about him!

Ooh, Beth, I love your idea…wonder if Amy and Chip would let me steal him away sometime?! 🙂 Someday when that trach is gone and Ollie’s able to talk, I’ll teach him to say Ponderer. 🙂

  5. 🙂 Thanks, Amy! I can’t stop scrolling through the photos, and every time I do, I’m re-amazed at all the miracles that have happened along the way (all the prayers to!) to bring Ollie to where he is now. God is good!
